Right at this point, Server Adminning is seriously borked...

- you have to register an account with gamespy for EACH server you want to run
- I have yet not been able to spot our own server in the server browser list
- there is no webadmin
- server keeps crashing when trying to start...takes a couple of tries...
- lots of stuff...the ini files are in places you'd never have thought of before...

If you want to join the server, open your console and type "open tcg.clanci.net"

If you have any questions, just ask them here or in an own thread.

Good work Loib. I hear from Piglet @Titan that the demo is not server friendly and has caused much heartache for admins. Me thinks you've put some time in to getting this sorted so far. :hugs&kisses:

EDIT: passwording servers - the server browser doesn't work - must use console:
open x.x.x.x:7777\?password='pswd'

The server mailing list is full of people complaining that their servers stopped accepting connections after 24 hours and crashes on each mapswitch.

I gave it a quick restart but for the time being there's not really much to be gained from running an own server. You can't even password it...

Ok mate, no worries.

Ref pswd: it has been done at Titan, I think adding ?pswd to the console line. My notes are at home.

ah sorry, I re-read Steve Polge's mail again and he was talking about private connections, not passwording in general.

Seems to work after all...thing is if the server doesn't show up in the browser at all then what's the point of passwording it.

Sure, why not
Only I'd like to wait till the official server hits, because right now adminning is a PITA. Even if I'm not able to play myself I (= we = ECi) could dedicate the server for whatever nights FragBEU happens to take place these days (if any)

I also could give admin status to someone (or a couple of people) who join more regularly than me so everything goes smooth and there's no wankers on the server.

Awesome. We are also waiting for the retail server before going into full FragBU mode (the current FragBU server is unpassworded and such). We'd love to have and advertise a Euro event though.

nice useful little thing you posted there

No players on the server though
Doesn't surprise me however, would be a miracle if the server was appearing in the serverlist at all...

Still waiting for the Linux dedicated server by the way, here's the holdup:

On my server, patch 2 seems to have solved the sudden-disconnect for players-ghost-server-afterwards problem. At last!

Loib, could you consider creating a dedicated warfare server for, say, 18 to 20 players?

Just in case this is possible and you have the time/interest to create it, then the settings should be the following

- patch 1.3 installed
- Perhaps bots enabled to fill spots for a 4 player game?
- kickidlers enabled (to stop the piss-poor unbalanced games)
- balanceteams disabled (see below why)
- only the titanteamfix mutator installed from (much better than bbalanceteams setting)
http://www.utzone.de/include.php?pat...contentid=6708

If no resources, time etc, np

Err, this forum really should go to the archives. Since we cancelled the lease on our server, TCG is not active anymore.
