I can log in at the office, but not at home. I've deleted all cookies on my home PC, but still nothing. I can get to the home page, but not the forums. Tried both IE and FireFox.

If I recall, when I first moved to my current IP, I couldn't log into the forums (site not found). Haarg helped me add the forums somewhere in my network settings so that the site would be recognized, but I don't remember what we did.

What does it look like when you can't get to the forums. Does it just refuse to load and display an empty page, or is it something else?

Maybe try both forums.clanci.net and forums.carpeimperium.com. They're both working, but maybe your DNS is a little borked and you can see one but not the other.

In FireFox, I get Timed Out message. In IE, I get Site Not Found message (I'm doing this from memory, so I might not be 100% correct).

I've tried both and getting the same error for each.

Is it, by any chance, this error?
Code:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [no address given] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3 Server at mail.carpeimperium.net Port 80
This is thrown by our host whenever script execution takes too long. Maybe your internet connection at home is too slow (long delay) for sending all the required data to the forums in time, resulting in a script timeout. This is, however, by no means a fault of your home connection, but rather on the part of our host.

Try doing a "ping" from both your work and home location and see how they relate. You are welcome to post the results here.

Sorry, Loibi, I've been too busy to try this lately.

I tried pinging from my work PC, but it keeps timing out (tried forums.clanci.net, www.clanci.net, forums.carpeimperium.net, and www.carpeimperium.net). It's probably restricted here at work. I haven't tried it at home yet.

I know my IP isn't the fastest, but it's not like I'm on dialup either. I don't understand why, if I could access the old server but can't access the new, why it would be my IP.

Anyways, I'll try to ping from home tonight and see if anything shows up. I'll email you the results (since I won't be able to post them here).

Edit - just used an online tool to ping from work:

Quote:
Ping 80.67.28.82

Round trip time to 80.67.28.82: 148 ms

Thing ist that on our new host, since it's shared hosting, we only get a slice of the CPU time. If the system thinks you've used too much of that time, then it will just kill the process which results in the error message I posted above (that message is from Firefox 3, might look a little different in other browsers).
So your connection is probably fine, maybe just a little on the edge of "too slow". That's why I asked for your pings.

Btw: if you used an online tool to ping our ISP, then it probably measures the ping from that tool's location, not your location. Meaning that value is not really helpful at all. Maybe you can link me to the tool you used? Alternatively you could link me to your company's IP addy (like your webserver, if it's hosted locally) and I can try pinging it from our host.

I don't know the IP addy of my company, and I would probably have a hard time retrieving it (given the size of the company and the strict security). I do know my desktop address, 10.25.92.43, but don't know if that helps.

How does knowing my work ping help if I don't have any issues from this location? Just curious, because I have little experience in this area.

This ended up being the problem. I had to remove the old IP from my CWindows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. I just couldn't remember the file until Loibi helped me.

Thanks, Loibi, for helping me figure it out.

Thunderbird reports an error when trying to access the @clanci.net mail account, something wrong with it? Should I make changes to the secure imap settings for the account and if so, what should I configure.

I also have a @carpeimperium.net addy, yet that's something altogether different, isn't it?

Pics from our sigs that are hosted on clanci.net don't seem to be working. For example: http://members.clanci.net/renretard/rensig.gif

...and that link gives a nasty Deutschland error that makes me feel like a failure =\

There seems to be a problem with the webmail. Specifically, trying to login to webmail.clanci.net throws a 500 server error, any ideas or did I miss something (again )?

IIRC, we no longer have local storage (that is no members.clanci.net exists any more). This has been discussed before.

Yeah, webmail as it was is currently broken. I didn't change a thing, somehow our provider says that roundcube is running in an endless loop.
The workaround is using https://webmail.df.eu/imp/login.php for the time being...

That's ok, I just thought it was my doing. S/IMAP works flawlessly, so...
