Atm, my system consists of:
Asus a7m266
athlon T-bird 1.2
256 mb ddr pc2100 ram
radeon 8500

I'm considering getting:
N-force2 mobo
barton with 333 fsb
512mb of pc3200 ram

Later I will probably end up getting a new vid, but I thought upgrading this stuff first would give me a better performance increase for the time being rather than upgrading my video first. I think im gonna get everything through newegg, so any input would be great. Any suggestions on which mobo i should get? or brand of ram? (thinking corsair atm)

i've got the ASUS A7N8X DeLuxe mobo, a barton cpu, and i also got the Corsair sticks. all are working splendidly together. the only advice i can give you regarding the mobo is think about what kind of cpu cooler you're gonna use. for instance, i have one of those big wavy zalman coolers, and i read that these wouldn't fit on an Epox mobo, because the cooler would actually touch the psu when mounted. the Asus mobo doesn't have this problem.

as for the Corsair, while it's great stuff it's also quite expensive, so if you're not planning on overclocking it you're cheaper of getting some Crucial/Kingston ram. the only reason i went for the Corsair is because i could get it thru my work, so i didn't have to pay full price anyway. :)

I'm a big fan of Asus. My last board was the A7V. Served me very well.

Just ordered a barton 2500+, 512mb of kingston ram, and the A7N8X-X. Got it all for about $250 and everything was free shipping :)

I've got a 2500+ Barton core, 512 PC 333 and an MSI Nforce 2 board. I'm really happy with the setup. Did you get a single DDR stick or get 2x256? Going the dual route is better.

i got a single stick, lot better deal than getting 2 256's, although maybe in the future ill have twin 512's in there ;)

ive been looking at a 9800, because the price difference between it and the 9700 pro is pretty negligable, and i dont want to get anything less than that. Atm its about the cost of what i just upgraded my mobo, proc, and ram for :x Hopefully it will be cheaper by xmas...

Definitely will, since ATI will be releasing yet another gfx card pretty soon :)
