Good news. My ex-girlfriends bro (we're still good friends) is setting up a dedicated server for gaming at his work in the next week or so. As soon as we learn how to set things up, it should be running (remote admin stuff). He also wants it to be pswd at all times, so that not too many people hog the bandwidth. I'll work on that....

ok, i just spoke to my buddy, and he's gonna setup the server this week (provided I drop off the cd tonight at his place).
Also, I want to ask you guys about the speed of his connection: He tells me he uploads data at about 200k/sec and downloads at about 800k/sec. Is that enough bandwidth for 10 people?

200 k / 10 = 20 k / person UT needs 7 max. (don't forget spectators http://smilies.clanci.net/smile.gif )

I just got your answer Webby. It's a cel 600 oced at 766 with 192Megs of RAM.
That should be ok?

That should be just fine for 10 players (The Web is a celeron 600 not OC'ed)

Ok, he installed the game and thepatches (The bonus packs too, I hope).
Is there any way I can get one of those tweaked .ini files you mentionned WebSlinger?
Also, he's gonna leave only one map rotation, but I asked him for admin privileges (duh) so that I can at least change the game psswd and the map.
Also, does anyone know how to do a batch file that would stop the UT server at a certain time, and start it again at another time?
Hopefully I can get the ini file and batch file to him by tomorrow, so that tomorrow night's praccy can be on this server....

scheduled starting and stopping is done on the Web with this program...

I'll</a> send you my INI for Ci. Test that out and see how ppl play on it. You need BOnus Packs 1 & 4 and CSHP 4 to run this INI. dont overwrite unrealtournament.ini with it but start this ini from the command line. check mail...

Guess what? Server's up guys. That's right. It ahsn't beed really tested, although I looged on as admin just to see if that worked. Heh, I pnged the server from my work, and I was pinging a.... 10 !!! That's right. I guess from my house, it should be closer to 50 though.
I'm making sure we have the right maps in the list. Please tell me what maps should be in the list....
